This week I visited neural.love, a multi-purpose AI site with a focus on images, video and sound...
Thank you for the Music
In this episode of our exploration of the world of AI, we turn to another art form that until recently was a seemingly invulnerable bastion of human skill: Music. Just as the written word and works of art can now be created in seconds, so too can unique, customized and royalty-free music compositions.
I tried my hand using https://Beatoven.ai, a system designed to support content developers (blogs, podcasts, video, social posts). Instead of searching for royalty free tracks or the prohibitively expensive prospect of commissioning a new composition, this AI tool allows the user to create a one-of-a-kind musical piece up to 15 minutes long. Using a series of clickable choices such as Tempo, Mood, Genre/Region, and Instrumentation, the user narrows the parameters of the piece.
Once each choice has been made, this is where the AI takes over -- it takes about a minute for the software to gather samples, compose, mix, and master the track. Like its' copy and art brethren, Beatoven.ai then delivers a never-before-heard and never-to-be-repeated, unique musical composition.
Once the composition is delivered, the customisation does not end there. Since the typical use case is to apply music to video content, the system allows you to add your video and adjust the track to picture. Sound levels can fade in and out to accommodate voice or to emphasise content. I didn't go quite this far, but here you can see the graphical interface that allows for a very easy adjustment of the sound levels:
The resulting piece will hardly have musicians and composers looking for an alternative vocation, but, for 5 minutes work, it is certainly worthy of the blog for a small business. To download the 1 minute long track I created click HERE
